Advanced Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy is the cornerstone of my holistic wellness practice.  I believe in helping the body heal through a blend of myofascial release techniques, including visceral and neural mobilization methods; Japanese style acupressure; and release of emotional holdings through physical movement of the body; for a complete Mind:Body, client centered approach to my practice. When you book an "Advanced Manual Therapy" session, please specify what techniques you are interested in receiving, or we can build a plan together during your "New Client" session.

Myofasical Release

Myofascial Release includes manual movement of the web of fascia that connects everything in our body. Through hands on therapy, mobilization, and stretching, I work with the muscles, bones, viscera, and connective tissues to achieve transformation, inside and out. I practice Advanced Manual Therapy techniques as taught by the Barral Institute, Chikly Institute, as well as a blend of techniques that I have personally developed that incorporate the Five Elements of Eastern medical theory.  I am currently practicing Hood River, OR, and available for distance consultation or coaching.  I am credentialed to teach other healthcare providers thorugh NCCAOM and NCBTMB.

Visceral, Vascular, and Neural Mobilization

I have studied around the world with amazing teachers that practice the body of work promoted by Jean Pierre Barral, DO PT (the Barral Institute), and Bruno Chikly, DO LMT (the Chikly Institute), as well as the traditions of Cranial Osteopathy developed by Sutherland.  Many people refer tot he name "Visceral Manipulation" for these techniques, but my practice ethos has evolved several disciplines and combined them, including an attention to the energy and intention around the total practice. I use the term "mobilization" as "manipulation" and concepts that nurture codependency do not have a place in this space.  My practice involves gently mobilizing the organs of the body, as well as connective tissues, including vascular and neural networks, with great attention to the Vagus Nerve complex.  This work affects the autonomic nervous system and neuroendocrine system, and may involve gentle joint mobilization and full body integration to help you heal from a variety of illness and physical or emotional disfunction.

Structural Integration

Structural Integration is a therapeutic method that involves the combination of several modalities. Treatments include myofascial release, traction, trigger point therapy, and deep tissue sculpting techniques that work together to realign structural imbalances. I practice in a way that is gentle, working with your body, not against it, to realign the whole body by releasing chains of restriction along the fascial train system and energetic visceral meridians. These techniques go far beyond the traditional philosophy of the fascial system, as practiced by other Structural Integration and Rolfing therapists.  I include work in the viscera that can be incredibly effective in realigning your body; this style of treatment is often more gentle and profound than Rolfing sessions, and can create change in a fraction of the time.

Toyohari Japanese Meridian Therapy

Toyohari Japanese Meridian Therapy is a way for your body to achieve a greater flow within the meridian system through non insertion acupuncture and bio current acupressure techniques.  This treatment is very gentle and works to harmonize and balance your internal and external energy meridians. It is an elaboration of traditional Reiki practice.

I have been trained in these special techniques by the renowned Jean Ann Zollers, PT, and have worked with trauma release and integration within infants that were in the NICU, or had birth complications, as well as toddlers with mobility and digestive issues. Postnatal and Peri Natal Manual Therapy

With my skills in myofascial release and visceral mobilization, I am well appointed to help new mothers with their recovery after birth.  I practice from an informed perspective that takes into account every mother's unique journey into motherhood, and assists in the process of finding balance after birth.  I love working with new mothers and their babies. I practice Advanced Manual Therapy techniques as taught by the Barral Institute, including visceral and neuromenengeal mobilization, which is similar to Cranio Sacral Therapy. My style of practice results in one of the most therapeutic post natal manual therapy treatments you will ever experience. Guaranteed!  I also have special training in Visceral Applications for Pediatrics and have worked with little ones that have been in the NICU, and have experienced a variety of birth traumas. I no longer practice Prenatal Massage with clients, as my schedule no longer allows for continuous treatment over 9 months, although I do make exceptions for high risk situations that need more informed levels of care than general massage.
